I will definitely be watching 9 by Design tonight, I’ve totally been looking forward to it and have already read their book like 10 times.

Bob and Cortney Novogratz are a husband and wife design team and owners of the NYC based firm, Sixx Design. They also have 7 children!

For more than a decade, the two of them have developed and designed unique properties in Manhattan and have even rebuilt entire blocks in the city. What is most inspiring is how they decorate these spaces with rare and inspiring collectables. (Think modern art!)

Both come from large Southern families, and shared the desire to have a lot of kids and are now the parents to seven children! (I can barely run a household and stay on top of 1 child!) You may think that New York City isn’t the typical place to raise a large and growing family, but once you see how they live you’ll be completely jealous!

The series will follow the couple over the course of six months, during which they worked on six large-scale design projects including a 24-room hotel on the New Jersey Shore called The Bungalow Hotel, a 10,000 square foot glass house on Manhattan’s West Side Highway and a home conversion of a gun shop located on the edge of Soho.

The series also will give viewers useful advice that can be incorporated into their own lives. The couple has a knack of mixing vintage and modern, and will show how they incorporate both high and low end items.

9 By Design is tonight at Tuesday at 11 p.m. ET/PT. Luckily, it will be moved to 10 p.m. ET/PT on Tuesday, April 20.

  1. I’m excited as well. Too much good TV tonight!

  2. Was it good – I missed it

  3. Great inspiration rooms. I know what you mean. We have been in my home for almost 5 years and we may be staying put for another 3 years. I want to renovate my kitchen but feel I have missed my window.
